Have tried other versions of recent 64bit linux. Situation is same.
I can confirm the exactly same bug. I have an ati X1900gt and it doesn't work with any new distribution with the radeon driver. X just hangs at a black screen with garbage on top. The whole system needs a hard reboot after that. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, 32 bits.
Is this still an issue with KMS or a newer version of the driver?
