http://pastebin.com/m292d58a1 -messages from slackware kernel
http://pastebin.com/m3734dd7a- xlog
Desktop covered with black and white rectangular pattern with exa & NoAccel "True" option enabled.Unusable.
With "exa" & no accel option removed-similar problem
With "dri" enabledsame problem plus x lockup requiring reboot.

OS is slackware64-current using xserver 1.6.1 and mesa 7.4.1.
Computer is AMD64 939 dualcore+
Motherboard chipset is NForce4
Video card is pci-e x1900GT.

This card works perfectly with vesa or catalyst drivers (3D fast with catalyst).
Have tried other versions of recent 64bit linux. Situation is same.

I can confirm the exactly same bug. I have an ati X1900gt and it doesn't work with any new distribution with the radeon driver. X just hangs at a black screen with garbage on top. The whole system needs a hard reboot after that.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, 32 bits.

Is this still an issue with KMS or a newer version of the driver?

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not
obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases.
