English and Russian alphabets in AbiWord

Bold Cyrillic serif hinting looks very bad for some letters. As far as I can tell, бвгджзийклмнптфцчшщъыьэюяЖЪЭ are affected.

I'm attaching a screenshot to illustrate the difference between Latin and Cyrillic hinting at different sizes.

Can somebody fix this? Some sites look pretty ugly with strong hinting right now because of this.
