Created attachment 29174 [details] output of intel_gpu_dump After one or a few key presses, the keyboard locks up when using the intel driver on mackbook. Before locking up, the 'login' input box and other characters from gdm sometimes appear corrupted. This bug was reported to the debian BTS, and Julien Cristau asked me to report it here along with the intel_gpu_dump output. http://bugs.debian.org/544864 HTH cheers, piem DRM Information from dmesg: [ 10.467280] Linux agpgart interface v0.103 [ 12.279602] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: Intel 945GM Chipset [ 12.280507] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: detected 16124K stolen memory [ 12.283422] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: AGP aperture is 256M @ 0x80000000 [ 42.802999] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 [ 42.863170] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730 for 0000:00:02.0 on minor 0 [ 55.697500] [drm:i915_get_vblank_counter] *ERROR* trying to get vblank count for disabled pipe 0 Contents of relevant Xorg X server log file /var/log/Xorg.0.log: X.Org X Server 1.6.3 Release Date: 2009-7-31 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.30.4-dsa-ia32 i686 Debian Current Operating System: Linux mangue 2.6.30-1-686 #1 SMP Sat Aug 15 19:11:58 UTC 2009 i686 Build Date: 06 August 2009 04:49:57PM xorg-server 2:1.6.3-1+b1 (buildd@murphy.debian.org) Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. Will you please add the modedebug option in xorg.conf and attach the Xorg.0.log? > option "modedebug" "true" Will you please confirm whether the box can be accessed by using ssh after it hangs? If it can be accessed, please attach the output of dmesg, /proc/cpuinfo, /proc/meminfo, intel_gpu_dump, intel_register_dump? I have a macbook in my hand. But unfortunately I can't reproduce this issue. thanks.
I attache here the dumps requested by yakui zhao, including the Xorg.0.log with modedebug true. i confirm the box can be accessed via ssh after x hangs. i used intel_reg_dumper, from the xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg package, as i couldn't find intel_register_dump. HTH, cheers, piem

I tried with all configures of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but there's the same bug! I don't attach anything because it will be very similar to attachments from first post.

In connection with /etc/X11/xorg.conf (given too), everything works great. When I upgrade xserver to versions given in file x-version-new and it doesn't work (with the same config file). Until yesterday, I had the same problem under linux kernel 2.6.30-1 and xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.8.1-2 as distributed by debian testing. However, the problem has gone away after I upgraded linux kernel to latest stable version 2.6.31 by compiling vanilla kernel source. As an end user, I have no idea about what was the source of the problem. Anyway by now, My X window system works flawlessly with quite good performance. Regards, Dohyun Kim
yeah, new kernel has more stable fixes from Eric and Chris. So good to know that fixed your problem.
