Alan Cox (alan@redhat.com) writes: XFree86 had a "glide" driver for the Voodoo1 and 2 with some serious limitations, including no 2D voodoo2 acceleration and reliance on the Glide2 libraries that build only with old gcc on 32bit little endian systems. With help from Ghozlane Toumi I've written a new driver which is free of Glide library requirements and adds 2D acceleration, including render acceleration for the Voodoo2. It is under the old X license, and now the status of the various X projects is clear, ready to be contributed. It can be found on ftp://people.redhat.com/alan/XFree86/..
I have merged this into Red Hat packages already, and will take responsibility for merging this into the tree.
I've discussed this with Alan Cox, and asked him when he'll have version 1.0 of the driver ready. He says there are a few minor issues he needs to resolve first, and then he'll release 1.0. I'm defering this addition for now, until after the voodoo-1.0 driver is finalized. I will follow up, once the driver has been updated, and tested to confirm it works properly.
The driver was committed by alan.
