As noted in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491552 it might be helpful to have something like DKD_ATA_SMART so people can set it to 0 to avoid spinning up (broken) harddisks.
Users can set either turn SMART off on the disk (via the smartctl(8) command) or write an udev rule to set ID_ATA_FEATURE_SET_SMART_ENABLED to 0. See also https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=684729 for adding GUI in Disks for this (would require API in udisks).
