Created attachment 30927 [details] blender screenshot As you can see in the screenshot, lightening is applayed in wrong side of object. I think its something wrong with normals. But when I wanted to recalculate normals, I was not able to select any object in the viewport. Even I am using SVN version (2009-10-29 day's revision) of Blender 3D, on ATI propieratery driver everything works perfectly.

I'm also unable to select objects in Blender 2.49b by right-clicking on them in the 3D viewport. I'n running latest libdrm/mesa/xf86-video-ati git master using r600 driver (my GPU is an ATI RadeonHD 4850). I'm not sure how object selection works in Blender, but something curious happens when I attempt to select an object using right-click: an enlarged version of the area around my cursor is drawn on top of the 3D viewport. You can see this in the image I'll attach (you'll see 3 large versions of the light symbol, as I clicked on it 3 times).

I can confirm the same issue. I'm using 4850 card debian sid with the latest radeon/mesa drivers from experimental. see attached Xorg.log

Note: classic r600 driver has been abandoned. Please use r600g (gallium driver) instead. Is this still an issue with a newer driver/kernel?
With kernel 3.6.2 and xorg/mesa/libdrm from git the object selection problem is no longer occuring on either my 4850 or 5850 radeons with r600g (has probably been fixed long ago since I've used blender before on occasion without this issue). Lighting is looking correct as well
