Description D Fassi 2009-11-07 08:34:14 UTC
Hi,
I have funcional openSuSE 11.1 (Intel x86_64) with ATI Repository mapped to get last updates of my video drivers.

All work fine for months , but with last updates video components, when X start chash the video and HANG COMPLETELLY my notebook, I only can power-off.

Don't respond to CTRL-BACKSP nor CRTL-ALT-DEL , all stoped.

My Notebook is :  HP 6830s / Intel P8400 / 3GB / Radeon 3430 M82 ;

Components updated by dependencies are:

xorg-x11-server        ( 7.4-17.6.1-x86_64)
xorg-x11-driver-video  ( 7.4-19.8.2-x86_64)

Which repository do you mean? Please provide /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from hanging session.

Does this issue occur with the preferred ati driver (xf86-vide-ati)? If so, please move this to the Driver/Radeon component.

Development of radeonhd has pretty much halted and development focus is on the ati driver. Please see http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd

If the issue does not exist in the ati driver (or if there is no response to this message), this bug will be closed as WONTFIX unless someone contributes a patch.
Comment 3 Jeremy Huddleston Sequoia 2011-11-07 15:17:37 UTC
Closing due to lack of response. Please reopen and move to the Driver/Radeon
component if this issue persists with xf86-video-ati
