I've been trying to avoid adding h.264 support by default, because I don't want people trying gmail video with the echobot and thinking that means it will work with empathy out of the box.

Someone (I think it was Zdra, but I should probably check my logs) suggested that I should have a command to enable/disable codecs. I can think how to implement this, and it sounds like a good user interface for enabling h.264.
