ck-history is slow, often causing the GDM login GUI to pause or delay in launching. See GDM bugzilla bug #594344: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=594344 A patch was provided to make GDM cache the output of ck-history, but it seems better to fix this problem in the ConsoleKit layer. If caching is necessary can it be added to ConsoleKit?
Sounds like a good idea.
A pretty simple fix might be to use the --since call from GDM: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ConsoleKit/commit/?id=c9f2292339540d4b9d8940bcef16b7485480c8d9 Probably with a month or two window. Brian, can you test to see if that would help your situation?
Sure, does GDM in head provide a configuration option so you can set the since value to use with ck-history, or is it necessary to hack GDM to add the option?
I've added a ~2 month value to master now.
