I got it from here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5664880&postcount=1244
It's the second one in the post with hibernation and suspend support.

Newest kernel, still the same problem.

I made a clean install with sidux 2009.4 (released 2009-12-31)

Which includes xserver-xorg-core 1.6.5

"# glxinfo |grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset GEM 20090712 2009Q2 RC3"

Problem is reproducible by upgrading to xorg 1.7.4
(or just upgrading the system (apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade)
Upgrading the system brings me back to software rendering and the previously posted error message in Xorg.log

My temporary fix is to hold further xorg updates.

Updated test installation today and it works, same thing on production install. I'm not sure if it's xorg 1.7.5 or something else, but I'm happy.
