If I enable KMS, the display goes blank and does not come back. I can SSH into the machine however. I do have this computer hooked up to a KVM switch. I was watching the machine boot up on the screen and as soon as it switches into KMS it went blank. Can you attach your dmesg and xorg log? If the KVM doesn't provide enough load for load detect and doesn't pass an edid, there's not a lot the driver can do. You may have to force the display on.
