Every so often, usually triggered by fast scrolling in Firefox, or when switching between workspaces, the screen will freeze for about ten seconds. In trying to trace this, I discovered that during these freezes, the X server suddenly demands all the CPU cycles it can get, usually going up to 99.9%, then falling back down precipitously. Not loading the dri module helps but doesn't eliminate the problem. Starting with a depth of 16 doesn't help.
