The media player and my computer keys on the Chicony KU-0420 keyboard are generating wrong symbols with XKeyboardConfig 1.8. The first generates XF86Tools instead of XF86AudioMedia and the second generates XF86Explorer instead of XF86MyComputer. I submitted the patch to add support for this keyboard in #15813 and verified things worked fine in 1.5. There must have been a regression since then. Unfortunately, I no longer understand how XKB works and can't provide a fix. The keys generate keycodes 179 and 152.
Could you provide xprop -root | grep XKB ?

You are using the evdev driver. The keycodes are standard and basically they go from kernel. I guess you should report this bug to kernel developers. Or find the way to tweak keycodes generated by the kernel.
