Description Brian J. Murrell 2010-04-18 06:13:59 UTC
Frequently, using evince I get errors such as:

Error: Couldn't find a font for 'Helvetica Bold'
Error: Couldn't find a font for 'Helvetica Bold'

I do believe I have such fonts installed however:

$ fc-match Helvetica\ Bold
DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"
$ fc-match Helvetica
helvR12.pcf.gz: "Helvetica" "Regular"

But I am certainly no font expert (or even neophite).

Why does evince complain even though I have matching fonts?

Please attach a pdf in which you have such a problem.

Hrm. I originally found this when I was going through a bunch of documents. I just went through them all again and can't seem to reproduce this case.

It is worth noting that one of these documents also failed to display any fonts at all the last time I went through them, until I closed a pre-existing instance of evince. After closing it, opening the document that was not displaying any fonts at all was working again.

Very strange.

I guess you can close this until I see it again. Sorry for the noise.
