I am trying to use a laptop with a data projector. The laptop has its resolution set to 1280x1024. However, I am unable to get the projected resolution any higher than 640x480. It depends on the projector that I use. A small portable projector, if plugged in and turned on before booting the laptop, gives the correct resolution. However, with all other external projectors I have tried, I get the same low 640x480 resolution. I have tried playing with the xorg.conf file. I will attach a version which I have tried in the given form and with the commented lines uncommented, but neither work. I am using Fedora FC2.

I had the same hardware working last year using XFree86 and 1600x1200 resolution. If I use MS Windows, I can get 1280x1024 and other resolutions working. Under MS, I have to get the laptop working and then close down the external projector and restart it, but the higher resolution comes up.
Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.
