Description kenneth koym 2010-05-31 12:09:44 UTC
this black screen came up on my PC P5GC-MX with 750gig HD, as I tried to open an http from an email... I went through each instruction and clicked on archive & ?

now, I can't find "$xorg_backup_file" to send, but I jotted down details as follows.
The build date: 4-23-10 xorg-server 2.1.7.6-2ubuntu7
built OS:2.6.24-27-serverx86_64ubuntu
root=UUID=c3d97030-c966-4676-b2e9-2S5c108876f ro quiet splash
at the very bottom, it said see wiki.x.org
fatal server error Failed to submit batch buffer: input/output error
also check logfile @ "var/log/xorg.0log for more info

I could not figure how to proceed from "at shell prompt type "mana xorg.conf"
I tried: terminal> kproductions

I will open terminal again and run
       sudo dpkg-configure -phigh xserver-xorg
got nowhere with that as this indicates
k78724@Kproductions:~$ sudo dpkg-configure -phigh xserver-xorg
[sudo] password for k78724:
sudo: dpkg-configure: command not found
k78724@Kproductions:~$

hmmmmmm,,,, don't know where to go/what to try

I do not know why it says: "server" in fatal server error. I updated Ubu 9.10 & w/ 10.04 and built Ubu Studio but never have been using a server. It really makes no difference as there is a problem but, Can someone/you explain?

You should probably ask about this in an Ubuntu forum. If there is a problem in an X driver, we need the X server log file and clearly description of what went wrong.

Closing this bug.
