xorgversion.def in HEAD still defines XORG_VERSION as 6.8.1.99 This is misleading. HEAD is at least 6.8.2
kem: I assume this should be X11R6.9.0 for trunk (=6.9.0), correct ?
(In reply to comment #1) > I assume this should be X11R6.9.0 for trunk (=6.9.0), correct ? We shouldn't call it 6.9.0 yet. The problem is that it is not 6.8.2 either as that only exists on the 6.8 branch. Rather, the trunk has an updated version of 6.8.0. The best suggestion I have is to call it 6.8.99.1, which would mean it is the first snapshot release for what will eventually become 6.9.0. Later, when we are making release candidates, it will be called 6.8.99.901 for the first 6.9.0 RC. BTW, this should be discussed on a mailing list. Not many people will see this discussion in bugzilla.
fixed in head. first snapshot tarball created: http://xorg.freedesktop.org/snapshots/ new tags and tarballs every two weeks. for more information see this thread: http://lists.freedesktop.org/pipermail/xorg/2005-April/007223.html snapshot numbers start at 6.8.99.x, i can trivially bump them to 6.8.99.9xx when we approach release time.
