Sjoerd hit an error because Empathy was reading a log file while the logger was still writing it (it complained because the XML was invalid).
To avoid that the logger should rewrite the log file and replace it instead of appending.

Hopefully the XML store will turn read-only soon, a new log store is under construction (for real).
