The radeon feature matrix claims there should be textured XV support with the
R700 family of radeon. Typing xvinfo says no adapters. I use the debian squeeze driver which claims to be a 6.13.0 with kernel 2.6.34. I tried it with and without KMS enabled. Am I doing something wrong or is there no XV support for this chip. Is there a mistake in the feature list ??? There are no error messages in xorg or kernel logfile

Xv is supported just fine on r7xx cards.  There's something wrong with your configuration.  Please attach your xorg log and dmesg.  I suspect you do not have the firmware required by the driver installed.

Thank You for the tip with the firmware. There was a firmware file missing. Two of the required firmaware files came with the kernel (RV710_me.bin  RV710_pfp.bin), but one were missing (R700_rlc.bin). After installing the third firmare file XV works just fine. Thank You for Your help. I'm sorry that I din't find that out by myself.
