Description william.jon.mccann 2010-10-09 02:17:17 UTC
We should remove the log viewer status icon for a few reasons.

 * Boot errors are not user serviceable
 * Presence of boot messages doesn't really mean there was a boot error
 * We should have a more robust logging framework but this doesn't get us toward that
 * We don't want to have to support status icons in GNOME 3
 * etc

Should be set:

viewer: don't build viewer by default

The viewer is useful for seeing boot messages after boot up. It does this by showing a notification icon in the event there is a problem during boot. Notification icons aren't as en vogue as they once were, however. Ideally, we would have a more structured and semantically aware way to deal with specific boot problems. This commit turns the icon off by default. It can still be built with a --with-log-viewer
