Description Emilio Pozuelo Monfort 2010-11-19 02:45:54 UTC
It would be nice to be able to change an account's password when the protocol/server support it.

The relevant empathy bug is https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576999

The relevant standard is http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0077.html

I took a (very very quick) look at this and found that plugins/gateways.c in gabble already has code for registering a new account. Change password is not much different.

This functionality seems like the only way to e.g. change the compromised jit.si password as they provide no web frontend to do this. So without a client that supports this like jitsi does (no Gentoo package for it), the situation is a little unfortunate.
