GNOME Bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169540

[copied from bug]

Reporter: KevinDuffus@mail.rit.edu (Kevin Duffus)

Please describe the problem:
the contrast of the text in thumbnails are very light for some thumbnails as
compared to those in other documents. this may be caused by the different fonts
used.

please, if possible, increase the contrast of the text for those fonts that come
out light in the generated thumbnails.

screenshot of thumbnail generated by evince

the screenshot shows what i'm trying to say, just in case i didn't explain it
well enough. The "Dan Brown..." thumbnail shows fair darker text than the
"ID3v2" thumbnail. Plus the "Dan Brown..." thumbnail doesn't appear to go
completely white when highlighted on mouse over.

Uh, so yes that's bad contrast for the thumbnails. :-) I'm not sure what to
say here other than just increasing the contrast doesn't seem like a fix as
thumbnails that already look good will start to look worse. Is the real problem
that we're resizing the pixbuf and not the document (using vector resizing) to
make the thumbnails? My guess would be that we're doing the former and not the
later to create the thumbnails. dunno if that's true.

Difference in the thumbnails on the sidebar and a scaled down version of the
page

Attaching this to show how the thumbnailing is somehow messing up. On the
right we have what should be the thumbnail, while on the left we have what
looks like a pixbuf that has been shrunk down.

The glib frontend now exposes thumbnail images. I'm not sure there is a lot more to do beyond that (within poppler).

Any thoughts?

I'm closing the bug as it seems fixed to me. If it is not, please create a new bug with a more clear description of the issue.
