Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place for reporting this, but I found no other location... I try to use the i965-va-driver with xorg-edgers ppa for hardware accelerated video playback. After installing the xorg-edgers ppa my X screen stays black. In the Xorg.0.log I found this error (EE) intel(0): Failed to submit batch buffer, expect rendering corruption or even a frozen display: Invalid argument. Anyone knows where this error comes from? And is there a fix for it? Regards Stefan

Im using Ubuntu Maverick.
There will be some clues left in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state. Did the error only occur after trying to use libva or before? ie. what application caused the GPU hang. And what are your current versions installed from xorg-edgers?
The error only occured after upgrading libva1, vainfo i965-va-driver, libva-glx1 and libva-dev. Im not sure what application causes the error, but I have installed Gnome. When is run ppa-purge everything is ok again. I am not really sure about the versions, but I used the ppa from yesterday.
