Description Olivier Hallot 2010-12-16 08:57:25 UTC
Hi

Calc erases cell content (values) when pasting only comments.

Supposedly, when one pastes special "only comments", the target cell should keep all other attributes (formats, values, etc...)

However when pasting "only comments", the value is also erased.

Steps to reproduce:

put "123" in cell A1 and a Comment "bla bla bla"

put "345" in cell B1

Copy cell A1

paste special in cell B1, selecting "only comments"

Results: B1 cell alue (345) is erased, comment is copied.

Expected result: value 345 in cell B1 should be kept, comment "bla bla bla" added to cell B1

please disregard. work as designed (from Help).
Comment 2 bugquestcontri 2013-08-20 05:45:31 UTC
Since working with Calc (almost 2 year now) the described bug is really slowing down work because one first needs to copy the content of a target cell (for the comment) somewhere, copy and paste special the comment, and then cut and paste the original cell content.

If the paste-special only comments works with out deleting the content of the target cells it saves a lot or work: 4 clicks plus 4 ctrl+key strokes.

If this is a designed feature - I call it a bug - please inform where in the Help file this information (I could not find any information) can be found and I will place immediately an enhancement request.

I changed the status to REOPENED

Thanks for cooperation.

As said in comment #1 it works as expected. Help says that you need to select Add in the operations list.

Closing as WorksForMe.
