Even though I have the boxes checked in the "AutoCorrect/Localized Options" to replace the single and double quotation marks with their typographic versions, they are not replaced while typing, and I have to insert them as special characters.
Works fine on WinXP x86 I guess it may be OS-specific... Need more testing... BTW, additionally to checkboxes, did you actually selected what characters those quot-marks should be replaced with?.. The default option is "none"...
Yes, the single quotes are set to U+2018 and U+2019 and the double quotes are set to U+201C and U+201D

Well, actually, it appears that NONE of the auto-correct replacement settings are working.
Strange :-( Works for me too. What language? What exactly have you installed? What OS/Distro are you using?
I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10 with all updates applied, US English, LibreOffice 3.3RC2.
FYI, the word-completion mechanism does work, but not the auto-replace mechanism.
Well, I got around the problem by renaming my LibreOffice user profile and copying over my old OpenOffice 3.3RC8 user profile in its place. Now it works fine. That doesn't explain why it didn't work before...
