Created attachment 41657 [details] A comparison of a slide in odp format and ppt format as read by OO/LO, Keynote, and Powerpoint This was noticed during a discussion on comp.os.linux.advocacy. Apparently, the template in OO/LibreOffice used a hanging indent for "Outline 2" style, which was removed when exported to a .ppt file. The .pdf showing the original in OpenOffice/LibreOffice and the appearance after export in PowerPoint and Keynote are shown. Additionally, the exported Powerpoint was opened up by LibreOffice and still had the hanging indents removed, but also had incorrect glyphs for the Outline 2 bullets. I do not have a .pdf of that. This appears to be a minor issue, but it caused a great deal of drama in the forum because people were claiming that PowerPoint and Keynote made OO/LO presentations look better than OO/LO could by itself.
[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
Thanks for bugreport Please, attach presentation that demonstrates this problem
Dear bug submitter! Due to the fact, that there are a lot of NEEDINFO bugs with no answer within the last six months, we close all of these bugs. To keep this message short, more infos are available @ https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/NeedinfoClosure#Statement Thanks for understanding and hopefully updating your bug, so that everything is prepared for developers to fix your problem. Yours! Florian
I'm not sure what else I can add to this besides the graphic that shows the differences. The issue is that hanging indents did not export to LO or Keynote, when they exist in LO. Since this is a part of the standard "brown" template included in LO, it should be easy to replicate. I cannot replicate the bug only because I do not own either PowerPoint or Keynote. I submitted the bug because of a long discussion on Usenet, where someone was claiming that Powerpoint made things look better than Libreoffice, even when LO was the original, using the example I provided. (The person who found the bug was not willing to submit it, and instead kept using it as some claim of superiority of PP and Keynote over LO.) A little detective work on my part showed that the template included a hanging indent, which was obviously not exported to PP or Keynote, so I submitted the bug. I was surprised to find 4 emails recently saying that there was more info needed or the bug would be closed as invalid. *shrug* I just tried to report something where I found an issue. I apologize if what I submitted wasn't usable, but I cannot determine if the bug still exists, since I only use LO now. I probably won't report any more bugs since it's apparently clear that I don't know how to report them in such a way that developers can correct them. Sorry to have troubled everyone.
Sorry for such situation May be it is the same problem as in Bug 47997 > I probably won't report any more bugs since it's apparently clear that I don't > know how to report them in such a way that developers can correct them. Currently TDF has very few developers of Impress. Fixing of bug takes several years.
