Description Krzysztof Pawlik 2011-01-05 12:42:53 UTC
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel: 1.9.2.902
x11-base/xorg-server: 1.9.2.902
media-libs/mesa: 7.9-r1

Working kernel: 2.6.36.2
Problematic kernel: 2.6.37

After upgrading to 2.6.37 when KDE blanks the screen due to power saving settings the back light doesn't get re-enabled when there's an activity. With exactly the same software but on 2.6.36.2 it works as expected - when there's mouse or keyboard activity the screens back light gets turned on.

I've compared Xorg.0.log and there are no differences between them when running on those kernels, please ping me what I can do to help resolve the problem.

One more thing: when the screen is "on" without back light suspending the machine (STR) and waking it up results in back light being turned on.

Happens also with Intel driver version 2.14.0.

Thank you Chris for pointing this url out. I'll close this bug then and keep tracing the issue in kernel bugzilla.
