Created attachment 41730 [details] lspci -vvvvv output for dual-head X700 (RV410) card I have a Radeon X700 dual-head card operating in ZaphodHeads mode. I find that any OpenGL program will only update its window when the mouse id moved, other wise the window is halted. For example, by continuously moving the mouse glxgears can report about 59 frames per second. In a short email exchange with Alex Deucher, I understand that direct rendering is not currently supported across GPUs. With dual-head and multi-head setups becoming more common, I hope that direct rendering support across GPUs can be implemented. I am attaching the output of lspci -vvvvv and can provide other information upon request.

Which development group is responsible for improving/implementing cross-GPU DRI? I would like to follow its progress.

Follow the following mailing lists as it cuts across the graphics stack: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/ http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/ http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg-devel/
At the moment with xserver-xorg-video-ati 6.14.0 and xserver-xorg 7.6 on Debian Sid, OpenGL is working well with my Zaphod heads setup. Google Earth and OpenGL Xscreensavers now work. Thanks for the hard work on the Radeon code.
