Description Rolf Gloor 2011-01-17 11:51:57 UTC
In a regular Windows open / save dialog box, on top you have a search in pull down, where you have a wide array of places to select from, like:
- Last used
- Desktop
- My Documents (Eigene Dateien)
- Workspace (Arbeitsplatz)
- all local drives
- all network mapped drives
- shared documents (Gemeinsame Dokumente)
- Network (Netzwerkumgebung)
- etc.
This gives you almost all options to navigate to a location.

Additionally, other open/save dialog boxes have some icons to the right for
- Last used
- Desktop
- My Documents (Eigene Dateien)
- Workspace (Arbeitsplatz)
- Network (Netzwerkumgebung)

=> Those 2 navigation tools are MISSING in LibreOffice 3.3.0RC3!

(Something must have been in before or I would have realized it before. Was using LibO since Beta 2).

If the standard path in LibO (working directory) is defined as UNC path (like \\MyNAS\Share\Documents), you are stuck.
(For some reason, it was taking over the previous path from OpenOffice as UNC.)

You now can only navigate in this directory. Directory up, doesn't bring you anywhere.
So you can't access other drives, Desktop, and so on through navigation.

THIS is a major problem for most average user, since they usually don't know UNC pathes, another way to navigate to the Desktop or work arounds to arrive at their desired file location.

Please include this drop down and eventually the icons to the left enter above the actual directory content, also .
Attached is a sample as should be:

I am not sure whether I understand reporter's problem. and can't see any blocker.

@Rolf Gloor:
You have unchecked 'Tools -> Options -> LibO -> General - Open/Save Dialogs - Use LibO dialogs?
If yes, Please attach commented screenshots comparing WIN open/save dialog of LibO comparing it with dialogs from other programs.
You are using XP?

And this is how RC3's open dialog looks for me on Windows 7.

@Rolf Gloor:
Your report seems to be concerning dissatisfaction with WIN7 UI comparing it with WIN XP. That's nothing that can be fixed by LibO.

@Rainer
1st: Sorry for the delayed response.
I had a severe system crash. After my bug report, shuttin down machine, couldn't restart. Now from M$ Windows to Linux (openSUSE 11.3). Not yet all up but moving forward.

Regarding Bug report:

You're right on with your comment!

I didn't now about this setting.
Strange enough, when upgrading to RC3, it changed it all by itself.
So all by a sudden having not access to all directories was aweful.

SOLVED: So the basic complaint is solved.

REMAINING: What remains is the question, WHY would it automatically change the setting?
