I tried following instructions from here http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-redhat-ubuntu-linux-install-lo_3-3-0-linux_x86_install-rpm_en-us-tar-gz/ Made a directory at an arbitary location /usr/local/src/ /usr/local/src/libreoffice/$ Downloaded both the packages LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_helppack-deb_en-US.tar.gz LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz Extracted both in different directories tar xzvf *.gz then went to individual directories and installed them. cd LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_helppack-deb_en-US/DEBS/ sudo dpkg -i *.deb There were couple of core files which didn't get installed the first time around, installed them again and it went without an hitch. Then when trying to install the helppack get the following error /usr/local/src/libreoffice/LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_helppack-deb_en-US/DEBS$ sudo dpkg -i libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb [sudo] password for shirish: (Reading database ... 227392 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace libobasis3.3-en-us-help 3.3.0-17 (using libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb) ... Unpacking replacement libobasis3.3-en-us-help ... dpkg: error processing libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb (--install): trying to overwrite '/opt/libreoffice/basis3.3/help/en/simpress.key', which is also in package libobasis3.3-en-us-impress 3.3.0-17 dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.
OOps, my bad I meant first I Installed the Install files :- /libreoffice/LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US/DEBS$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb and then tried installing from /libreoffice/LibO_3.3.0rc3_Linux_x86-64_helppack-deb_en-US/DEBS$ sudo dpkg -i libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb
I don't know the pb for the version you tried but if you're interested on the pre-releases, have you tried the last versions on http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ ? If you're not particularly interested in pre-release versions, you can just use the Debian Apt repo and try this : apt-cache search libreoffice|grep help to find helppack in your language.
By re reading the logs in your first comment, I wonder if you had removed every element of a previous install. Eg, we can see 2 versions of this line dpkg: error processing libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.0-19_amd64.deb (--install): trying to overwrite '/opt/libreoffice/basis3.3/help/en/simpress.key', which is also in package libobasis3.3-en-us-impress 3.3.0-17
