Someone left a suggestion in the feedback form asking about this, and saying
that having all the PNGs in there makes the download take too long. We at least
should evaluate how much smaller a package without them would be.
Using 0.13.0 as a data point (because I had a copy of it handy here), I
removed all the PNG images and ran it through tar -jcf. The resulting
.tar.bz2 file is 28066471 bytes (as opposed to 43380637 bytes with the
PNGs), or just under 64% of the size.
Well, Nathan started releasing SVG-ONLY packages, so I guess this prophecy has
been fulfilled! Closing...
