(this report is for Update Applet 2.32.0 on Fedora 14) When the Update Applet is launched by the notification area icon, the first item in the list of updates is highlighted with the usual list selection color. However, pressing an arrow key on the keyboard (up or down) doesn't change the selected list item, but rather moves the keyboard focus between interface elements. For example, first down arrow keypress moves focus to the "Install" column header, the second moves the keyboard focus to the list item in the same item. It's not until the *third* down arrow keypress that the action actually changes the selection in the list. It'd be nice if the pre-selected list item had keyboard focus by default, to match its highlighted state, so that a user could scroll through the list items using the keyboard immediately after the window opens.
Makes sense, could you generate a patch for this change please, thanks.
Richard, I'd love to! But I'm afraid I don't have the skills necessary. I'm patient, though - this isn't exactly an earth-shattering bug. :-)
Works for me in 3.2 :)
