In empathy, the logger doesn't seem to save all my conversations. It seems that exiting empathy, terminating the telepathy-logger process and then restarting empathy gets it working again, but it soon stops working. I only use msn, so don't know if this affects users of other protocols. In addition I'm running Ubuntu 10.10.
Hello, I'll need the telepathy-logger version, and if possible some telepathy-logger logs. Have you filed a bug to launchpad first ?
How do I get hold of the version number and the logs? And by logs do you mean debug logs or the actual conversation logs? In the empathy debug window there's nothing recorded under telepathy logger... I filed this on the Empathy bugzilla first and was told to file the bug here.

Getting telepathy-logger package version depends on your distribution, this is one of the reasons we usually suggest filing bugs to distribution specific bug tracker first (see launchpad.net for Ubuntu). To get the logs, make sure all chat windows are closed, and run in a shell: export TPL_DEBUG=all killall telepathy-logger /usr/libexec/telepathy-logger Logger traces should be displayed. Copy them into a file and attach that file to this bug.
It seems the package version is 0.1.5, and I'll attach some logs as soon as I notice that it isn't recording messages.

Actually the stable version for the 0.1.X branch is 0.1.7, file a bug in launchpad to get it updated, if the bug is still present in 0.1.7, then we will address it. I'm marking this bug resolved "not our bug" for now. Please make sure this bug is referred in the launchpad bug you'll be creating. If after update you find that the bug is still present, then you will just have to reopen it. Thanks !
