Created attachment 44785 [details] Mission control log with tp-salut connection failure Telepathy-Salut is unable to connect. When enabled it just continuously attempts to connect, and never succeeds. telepathy-salut-0.4.0-2.fc15.i686 telepathy-glib-0.14.1-1.fc15.i686 telepathy-mission-control-5.7.7-1.fc15.i686 telepathy-logger-0.2.6-1.fc15.i686 telepathy-salut-0.4.0-2.fc15.i686 empathy-2.91.91.1-2.fc15.i686 At first, I thought it might be due to SElinux, but I was unable to find any selinux warnings that were blocking tp-salut. Anyway, here is the attached tp-mission-control debug log. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=684498
Did a little more investigation on this, and the bug is due to avahi not being enabled by default in f15. Closing as NOTABUG, since this is a distro-specific bug.
Reopening: Salut shouldn't sit there forever, it should fail gracefully, with an error code that makes MC not try to reconnect it without user intervention and which allows Empathy to show something useful to the user.
