Description Bob Harvey 2011-03-27 14:07:31 UTC
The attached file was created in Abiword 2.8.2 under Ubuntu 10.04lts

When I attempt to open it in Libreoffice 3.3.1 writer reports it to be corrupt and offers to repair it. If repair is accepted the file is opened normally.

This is repeatable with a variety of files, but I created the attached one just to test the problem. It could hardly be simpler.

File created with abiword

Attachment failed with initial report - re-trying as requested
Comment 2 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-03-27 22:28:42 UTC
The reported effect is reproducible with reporter's sample document and "LibreOffice 3.3.2 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:202 / tag 3.3.2.2)]".

OOo 3.1.1 will open reporter's sample document without error message, OOo-dev 3.4 also shows the message.

@Bob Harvey:
How can we know that it is not an AbiWord problem?

file created with abiword 2.8.6 on windows XP

I have installed Abiword 2.8.6 on windows XP, and Libreoffice 3.3.2 . The
pheonomenon is repeatable with that combination too. The file created in
Abiword 2.8.6 is attached.

Note that I have also reported this to Abiword:

@Bob Harvey
With your additional Abiword-Bugreport it should be possible to figure out what the problem is.

I see lots of differences in the contents between the original documents and the repaired one (for example in manifest.xml), but I have no knowledge concerning ODF

Abiword 2.9.2 created file
Comment 7 Denis Arnaud 2011-11-16 21:39:56 UTC
The attached file was created in Abiword 2.9.2 under Windows XP.
When I attempt to open it in Libreoffice 3.4.0 writer reports it to be corrupt
and offers to repair it. If repair is accepted the file is opened normally.

http://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12588 says 'This bug is fixed for version 2.8.6 of abiword and libreoffice 3.3.3'
is that true?

[This is an automated message.]
This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1

Confirm that problem still present in 3.5.2.2

Abiword may have a solution, but progress there has stopped too.

Abiword are claiming a fix, but no new release exists yet:

Comment 18 Hubert Figuiere 2012-08-20 00:42:19 UTC
There was no code change. Just forced libgsf 1.14 in the dependencies. That's all you need.
Comment 19 Bob Harvey 2012-10-25 10:20:01 UTC
@ Hubert Figuiere

Aye, but when will the downloadable binaries, particularly Windows ones, pick this up?
Comment 20 bfoman (inactive) 2013-08-15 21:22:36 UTC
Checked with:
Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 087a610fcd5c0c354a9ed6bfccd3451b667d62a3
TinderBox: Win-x86@6-debug, Branch:master, Time: 2013-08-04_21:41:24
Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview 64 bit

Could not reproduce. I can open all attached odt files without issues.
Comment 21 Julien Nabet 2013-11-16 14:11:12 UTC
Bob: following what bfoman said, could you give a try with last LO version (4.1.3)?
Comment 22 Bob Harvey 2013-11-19 08:17:45 UTC
I just installed 4.1.3 and opened all the examples from this report without error messages.
Comment 23 Maxim Monastirsky 2013-11-19 11:21:55 UTC
I also can confirm that all attached documents open fine with 4.1.3. Closing as WORKSFORME.
