Referring to Nabble discussion: "LibreOffice localization for multinational work environment" 2011-03-27 concluded as : it would be useful to create an additional level of user choice over an above the pre-formatted localizations on offer. and in addition to: Bug 33878 - [TASK] decide what Outstanding Open Office date localization issues should be fixed. I would like to state: I believe that multi national organizations need this enhancement of localization. Users should be able to define their own set of symbols for decimal and thousand separators. As stated by "kennedyd" it is not only the symbols but also handling that for long formats of dates and currencies. The currency symbol can be shown as "€" but can be read according to local settings as "Euro" or "Avro" or so. So this is valid for weekdays, years, months, currencies, etc. As a bottom line I would like to say that it is almost impossible for a software package to offer solutions for each and every case. Instead of trying to do so by predefined values, characters or formats, LibO should give more flexibility to the user. A user should have the right to define his own set of symbols and formats. Or LibO should refer to Windows or Linux system settings where most of the definitions are already there. Thanks for your consideration. Best regards. Cevad
