I have recently noticed a strange bug in Libreoffice in which typed spaces will not display in Writer until you type a non-space character. This bug did not appear until very recently, so I think it might have been introduced with the latest incremental update. I am using Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat on an AMD x86_64 computer. Libreoffice was installed from the Launchpad PPA.
Can you please add more information? I am not sure I understand the problem :-( Would be great to attach a document where you can show she behavior. Also what language / input method / etc. are you using? A screenshot of what exactly do you mean might help too.
I haven't noticed the bug again since submitting the report. Either it's been fixed, or the bug only showed up in a specific document. Created attachment 56086 [details] screenshot of space problem my be it is the same problem: write some text until right margin of page, then type spaces. Only first few spaces seen, other discarded by Writer. On screenshot we see about 20 spaces while typed about 100.
