I have a cell in my Calc spreadsheet with a value of "=TODAY()" which previously returned the date. Now, it returns a numeric value. On April 8, 2011, that value is 40641. Yesterday on the 7th, the value was 40640. This bug was present in LibreOffice 3.3.1, I updated to 3.3.2 and it's still there.
Did you manually change the number format of the cell? Try resetting the cell format to General.
