When adding/showing comments they appear in effect on the adjacent cells rather than as a popup that is attached to the annotated cell. When using large business model spreadsheets (for example) you invariably freeze the row and column headers - then when you want to add/edit a comment attached to the row header in column A but you have scrolled across to view later columns e.g. AA+, the comment appears not where you can see it (logical outcome) but in columns B,C etc.. Can be seen as enhancement request, but to anyone who uses spreadsheets for serious work this truly is an annoying bug... Reproduce: Create spreadsheet. Freeze column A. Scroll to view columns Q+. Right click on cell in column A and select Insert Comment.
Created attachment 50802 [details] spreadsheet with test case reproducing bug 36732 The attached spreadsheet (Libreoffice 3.4.2) reproduces this bug (or a closely-related variant). The steps to create it are included as a macro. They are as follows: 1) Create new spreadsheet. 2) Add data to many rows, for example cells a1:a1000. 3) Insert comment to cell a1000. 4) Select entire spreadsheet and change the typeface (in this case to Courier New 8pt). 5) Double-click any row boundary to resize all rows to optimal height. 6) Hover the mouse cursor over cell a1000, and observe that the comment now appears detached, at some distance from the cell.
