You have a legacy GPU. You need to use the legacy driver as reported in the system log:

[19795.247746] NVRM: The NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go GPU installed in this system
   is
[19795.247751] NVRM: supported through the NVIDIA 96.43.xx Legacy drivers.
   Please
[19795.247753] NVRM: visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html for more
[19795.247756] NVRM: information. The 270.41.06 NVIDIA driver will ignore
[19795.247758] NVRM: this GPU. Continuing probe...
[19795.247768] NVRM: No NVIDIA graphics adapter found!

However, please note that there's no version of the 96.43.xx legacy driver series that supports xserver 1.10 (used in Ubuntu 11.04) yet, so you'll have to wait a bit for the next release or use an older distribution such as Ubuntu 10.10.
