Example WPS format docs in a zip file

Libreoffice seems to ignore the page size settings (Letter, Legal, A4, A5 etc.) when importing Works files. I've attached a variety of documents created in Microsoft Works Word Processor v9.0, and in the native .wps file format with different page sizes. All of them open in Libreoffice as Letter size documents.

I guess it needs some relatively straightforward detective work to establish where the Page Size information is stored in the WPS binary file format, by comparing the attached files for differences. To help rule out some red herring changes (file save time etc.) I've attached two A4 files, so I guess that any locations that change between them can be ignored.

If you need more examples of .wps files, just ask and I can create and supply what's needed.

I checked real paper sizewith MS OFFICE STARTER 2010, what recognized all page sizes correctly (A6 user defined with a little diffreence to A6).
I can confirm that all sample documents show paper size "Letter" when I open them with LibO:
[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.4.5 RC1 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI [Build ID: OOO340m1 (Build:501)]"
and
Parallel Dev-Installation of "LibreOffice 3.5.0 Beta1 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [Build-ID: 7362ca8-b5a8e65-af86909-d471f98-61464c4] Windows_Release_Configuration 11-Dec-2011 06:51"

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Hello,
just a small note to confirm that all versions of libwps ( and therefore all versions of LibreOffice ) do not retrieve the page size attributes when parsing a Microsoft Works 2000, 5, 6, 7, 8 files.

Note: as there is some ongoing work to improve the filter for these kind of files: including to retrieve the page format but also the pictures, the textboxes, the tables, ... ; changes may appear at some point in some near or far future...
Comment 9 osnola 2013-05-29 08:14:44 UTC
LibreOffice 4.1 will include a new version of libwps which tries to retrieve the page size attributes of Microsoft Works 2000 to v8 Documents, so a small message to indicate that after doing some new tests, we can probably close this bug...
