My /usr/openwin/server/etc/XpConfig/C/print/models only contains the following model-configs: HPDJ1600C HPLJ4family SPSPARC2 I need model-configs for the following printer types: HP LaserJet 4si/4si MX PS HP LaserJet 5si/5si MX PS HP LaserJet 8100 PS HP LaserJet 8150 PS HP LaserJet 4050 PS HP Color LaserJet 4500 PS HP Color LaserJet 4550 PS HP DesignJet 1055CM PS3 At least, I think I do! I'm experiencing a problem where printing to my 4500 results in a page that fills 1/4 the paper. I found the Q/A on this problem, and changed the document file to have a default resolution of 600. Didn't make any difference. Any other ideas? Thanks, Jeff
For example we need: LaserJet 4200 LaserJet 8100 Color LaserJet 4500
To me, the inability to print almost renders Mozilla useless. So it doesn't make sense that related bugs are considered as something other than critical. If someone is able to guide me I'm willing to put the time into getting this fix complete. Specifically, I'm interested in support fot the OfficeJet G85. It might be that the best way to to approach this is by working on bug reports 492 and 636. I'm not particularly proficient in any language (other than Javascript) but believe I can hack my way through something in Perl, that might do the translation from a ppd. A note to Jeff -- I'm having the same trouble you describe. The best workaround I've found is changing papersize to something about 1/4 the size of the one that results in a 1/4-page output. However, since the page preview isn't showing a WYSIWYG output, it isn't a practical workaround, for me.
Have a look at this xprint.mozdev.org bug: http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5355 It's about implementing support for extracting PPD data form CUPS as a supplement to model-configs so that Xprint could discover printer parameters by itself without manual configuration. Currently the model-config stuff prevents Xprint from being useful in a meaningful way.
The original Xprint bugzilla is unused anymore, but bug 636 here on Freedesktop covers the universal solution to those types of problems.
Closing WONTFIX because nobody cares about Xprint. Reopen if you plan to address this bug.
