Description Vamsi Kodali 2011-05-20 07:38:49 UTC
Steps to reproduce this bug:
1. Fire up Writer and start a new itemized list
2. Type something for the first item and hit return
3. For the second item, say, the first word needs to be italicized. So, click the italicize button the toolbar and type the first word. Click the italicize button again to return to normal typeface and type a few more words.

Notice that the '2' is now italicized because the first word of the second item in the list is in italics. Not only that, the number '3' is also italicized although only the first word of the second item is in italics. This exact behavior can be reproduced with boldface also.

There are two issues here. First, I am not sure if it was a conscious decision to match the formatting of the item numbers based on the item's format. To me it looks odd that the item numbers are not uniform looking. For example, item 1 is in normal face, 2 is in italics just because the item is italicized for whatever reason.

Second, the formatting of the item number, interpreted based on just the first word of the item, is carried to the next item.

changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.

By historical reasons Writer, different Words, Impress behaves so.
To force list to be with specific format in Writer do following:
1. Place mouse cursor on any item and left click it. All items becomes in grey squares
2. Change format of character to desired (for example:font size, bold, italic, red color)
3. If format appears already desired, then change to wrong format and then back to desired (we want font size 12 and it is already 12, then change to 14 and than back to 12)

In Impress all list items are independent form each other, so to change format of all list, select explicitly ALL list.
