Description Christopher Yeleighton 2011-05-25 04:56:30 UTC
The String to Pixmap converter is described in Xaw manual page as a recent addition; it is missing from Xt.pdf section 9.6.1 where it belongs.

Alan, I think this was done by:

commit d158018aad18552c5788df38de40ef50b7652dde
Author: Alan Coopersmith <alan.coopersmith@sun.com>
Date: Fri Oct 9 16:14:59 2009 -0700

Move Xaw specification document from xorg-docs module to spec/*

Makefile support added to build postscript, text & html output,
and install it to ${docdir}, if groff is found and --disable-docs
    was not specified

    Signed-off-by: Alan Coopersmith <alan.coopersmith@sun.com>

so handing off to you.

Not me, the libXaw man page noting this as an addition came from XFree86's
enhancements to libXaw long ago. I don't believe a libXaw change belongs
in the libXt docs, since libXt is used with non-Xaw toolkits, but it should
probably go into the Xaw docs.

I don't know anywhere near enough about this to write useful docs though,
so will leave that to someone who uses Xaw & actually cares about it.

(We really do recommend against using it for new apps though - modern toolkits
like gtk+ & Qt are much better solutions for modern day applications.)
Comment 3 Gaetan Nadon 2011-10-07 05:17:02 UTC
Setting component to libXaw as it requires Xaw toolkit knowledge. The rationale is that all the docs have moved to their respective modules and there are no separate technical writers team that handle the docs.

The Docs component should be used for general issues affected all/most docs. This is one, but not the only one, way of triaging bug reports.

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not
obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases.
