Steps to reproduce: - create an empty presentation - click 'View/Header and Footer...' - enter a text in 'Footer text' - click 'Apply' or 'Apply to All' - the text is not displayed - click 'Handout' - click 'Normal' - the footer text is now visible Alternately you can also add a new slide, to make the footer visible.
