Description Matt Novenstern 2011-06-22 18:47:13 UTC
I just got a new HD 6850 card. When I boot with it inserted, I get through bios and grub, and then have a few seconds of blinking cursor before the screen goes off and I can't get the machine to respond to anything.

With the nomodeset option, I can boot to runlevel 3. Because everything freezes when the module is loaded with modesetting (and since the xorg driver seems to require it) that's as far as I can get.

I'm running 64bit fedora 15 that is up-to-date as of today.

I''m building a test kernel for F15 with the voltage fixes from Alex in it

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3154129

it will end up at

http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/scratch/airlied/task_3154129/

when it finishes building.

The voltage fixes make the card boot normally!

Problem resolved.
