Description Calvin Spealman 2004-03-29 18:08:37 UTC
A lot of consumer-grade PCs come shipped with intel cards or built-in chips, so
support for them would open this x server up to a much larger user/tester base.
Might also make this a much better choice for some than XFree86, myself
included, as the intel drivers they have are, frankly, horrid.

well, is that supposed to be a bug ?

more like a really vague feature request.

devs tend to only work on adding new drivers : if they need it (they have a new
piece of hardware not yet supported) or if lots of people want it and
fortunatly, the hardware manufacturer gave the specs to make support of the new
chip easy. (having the chip and/or having the specs)

basic support already exists and AFAIK, Intel (as well as most others 2D/3D
hardware manufacturer) do not provide enougth docs for their graphical chips.

so, better petition Intel and all others (ATI, Nvidia, Matrox) to give away some
code or at least some more docs

closing this bug as it does not help in any way
