Description hopson 2011-06-28 10:21:13 UTC
When composing a document in Writer, edited text does not refresh properly. Returning to edit text input earlier is especially problematic; all text after the cursor continues to be displayed as it was prior to the edit, and the cursor and new text are often obscured. Simple scrolling upward has the same effect at times. Ctrl-A is a workaround, but this is a very persistent, basic, and severely debilitating bug.
Comment 1 Jeffrey 2011-06-29 20:32:24 UTC
So from what you are saying is that when you make changes in Writer, for example inserting text within a sentence, sometimes the text after the bar/cursor does not shift properly, so the new words and the old words end up being super-imposed on one and another. This also happens with scrolling upward, in which case the words get jumbled up. For now, I cannot seem to see any problems on LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:12).

Is it possible for you to capture a screen shot of the problem and submit it as an attachment; it would make the problem much easier to understand. Also, is it possible to find a case in which this would always happen? Thanks!

Upgraded to 3.3, but issue persists. See attached screenshot of behavior after pasting paragraph #2 above #1 (reversing order).

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

I encountered this problem on Mandriva one year ago. This problem is due videocard driver. In such situation would be very useful function "Refresh screen". Alas, LibreOffice has no such function.

@hopson
This problem still exist?
Comment 5 Emanuele Gissi 2012-03-10 10:16:46 UTC
Yes, this problem still exist in Libreoffice (Fedora 16 and Ubuntu 11.11).
