Description kermeulan 2011-07-10 08:49:51 UTC
Hi,

Context: trying to open a .pps file for the first time with SIMPRESS.EXE

Impossible to assign "Libre Office Presentation" to file with .pps extention as program to always use to open this type of file.

Description of procedure done:
(1) File is on desktop
(2) Right clicked => OPEN WITH selected (any of the Program from the Libre Office Suite appears on the list).
(3) ALWAYS USE THE SELECTED PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS TYPE OF FILE selected
(4) BROWSE selected => SIMPRESS.EXE double-clicked
(5) Nothing happens (SIMPRESS does not appear in the PROGRAM selection window)

In step (4)if I select SIMPRESS.EXE and click on OPEN instead => it goes back to the list but none of the Programs from the Libre Office Suite appears on it.

Thank you

NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.4.1  - WIN7  Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:103)]".

I also had such fights, also with other program assignments, but currently I can not confirm that problem. I assigned .pps to EditpadLite and back to LibO without problems. I think this one might be INVALID.

@kermeulan:
May be you should discuss your problem on a user mailing list and report results here? We additionally need your exact WIN version!

Can you please file Bug reports with status UNCONFIRMED if your are not absolutely sure that you contributed all required background information and that the problem will be reproducible with information you can provide? Thank you!

[This is an automated message.]
This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Hi Kermeulan

Please attach your pps file. I think currently we can open pps file.

Once you attached please change status to UNCONFIRMED.
Comment 5 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2013-11-30 21:40:42 UTC
Many confirmations from MS-Windows users: the assignment of pps files to LibreOffice is done during installation process and LibreOffice starts automatically in slideshow mode.

Closing as WorksForMe. Please, feel free to reopen if you still experience this problem with current stable or active branches (4.0.6, 4.1.x and 4.2.x).

Best regards. JBF
