Toshiba Satellite 1800-554 is equipped with a Trident CyberBlade A1i card with 8MB RAM onboard. XOrg server fails to start both using "vesa" and "trident" drivers, causing system hangup (Ctrl+Alt+Fn does not work, but ACPI poweroff does), probably consuming 100% CPU power (built-in cpu-fan starts to work extensively). The only "working" configuration uses "vga" driver, but starts in some strange resolution (320x200?). I have tried every trick I figured out to work in other hardware configurations, but it did not success. Here comes X0rg.0.log and xorg.conf: ********************************************************************** XOrg.0.log X Window System Version 6.8.2 Release Date: 9 February 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2 Build Operating System: FreeBSD 5.4 i386 [ELF] Current Operating System: FreeBSD kiciatron 5.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE #0: Sun May 8 10:21:06 UTC 2005 root@harlow.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 Build Date: 28 July 2005 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org to make sure that you have the latest version. OS is FreeBSD 5.4 with latest updates, xorgcfg fails to start causing hangup.
You should probably try the X.Org release candidate 6.9/7.0 RC2.
Or try adding Option "NoDDC" to your Device section.
Are you still having the same issue with a current version of xorg?
